제목 | Study of Prediction Method for Thermo-oxidative Life and Characteristic Analyses of Degradation in Cylinder Head Cover Plastics for Automobiles |
초록 | Cylinder head cover(CHC) was used as the part of under-hood and made short glass fiber(GF) reinforced polyamide 66 with mineral filler and exposed to engine oil and high temperature to 150℃(maximum peak temperature in CHC). Main functions of CHC were to provide protection for engine's valves, oil and noise shielding without deformation and degradation of mechanical properties under high temperature. It was very important to understand these thermo-oxidative reactions and their effect on the life of CHC under high engine room temperature. In this study, to predict thermo-oxidative life of CHC plastics we conducted TGA analysis and accelerated heat resistance test at 180℃ by using tensile strength specimen and to investigate thermo-oxidative characteristics, measured video microscope, SEM, ATR, contact angle and DSC. Using Ozawa method and Arrhenius equation, It could be predicted that thermo-oxidative life time of CHC plastics was 2,865 hours at 150℃. In Surface Characteristic analyses such as video microscope, SEM and contact angle analyzer, cracks, roughness and de-bonding between polyamide 66 matrix and glass fibers increased and contact angles decreased according to aging time, which meant for the increasement of roughness and polar functional groups on the surface. In ATR and DSC analyses absorbance of ketone peak band(1707 cm-1) increased and melt point(Tm) shifted from 254℃ to lower temperature according to aging time. |
