Hydrogel preparation approaches that can cater to a wide range of mechanical properties and provide reversible tunability in its modulus by the external stimuli for remote trigger application on mechanical property control are highly sought-after. Herein, a photo-switchable hydrogel with a double network system was prepared, capable of reversible modulus change triggered upon light irradiation. Under UV and visible light illumination, the hydrogel demonstrates reversible switching from low to high modulus through the host-guest interaction. Remote control of such matrices can bring potential insight for programmable materials with on-demand tunable mechanical properties. |
