The effect of ceramic coating on nickel nano-filter for hot-gas filtration |

Nickel nano-filter was modified by alumina coating on nickel powder for high temperature gas cleaning. Alumina coating of nickel powder having 2 to 10 ㎛ of particle size distribution is the first step in fabrication of high temperature nickel nano-filter. The raw nickel powder and alumina modified nickel powder were pressed in cylindrical metal mold under pressure of 42 MPa and then heat treated at the temperature range of 450-900℃ and 1100-1400℃ respectively for 10 hours in pure hydrogen condition to have thermal stability and mechanical strength. It was clarified that the air permeation flux depended on porosity and average pore diameter. And the porosity and average pore diameter were controlled by heat treatment temperature. It was also clarified that the alumina coated on the surface of nickel powder hindered the nickel sintering and agglomeration up to 1200℃ while pore structure of un-modified nickel nano-filter was destroyed above 700℃. |
