Photothermal conversion materials dispersed in the thermally responsive hydrogels matrices are shown to be an efficient material system for controlling the volume phase transition of hydrogels in response to light. We found that reduced graphene oxide show enhanced photothermal conversion efficiency than other photothermal materials. To render visible light responsive hydrogel of extensive degree of volume change, graphene oxide entrapped within thermally responsive hydrogels matrix was chemically reduced by hydrazine monohydrate solution. With increase of reduction time, we found that photothermal effect was enhanced, thereby degree of volume change triggered by visible light irradiation could be maximized. |
