Synthesis of potassium phthalimide-initiated polymerization of ethylene oxide and its chain-end functionalization |
초록 |
Ring opening polymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) was performed successfully using potassium phthalimide as an initiator via anionic mechanism. Initiator was dissolved in purified DMSO in the round bottom flask. All the reactions were performed under high vacuum. Practically, the polymerization of EO was carried out in DMSO at 60oC for 12 h, followed by precipitation in excess diethyl ether. The resulting polymer was used for the synthesis of block copolymer using N-phenylmaleimide. Deimidation of the block copolymer was performed using hydrazine monohydrate in DMSO at 120oC under acidic conditions (pH=4.5) resulting in the generation of α-amino-PEO-based block copolymer carrying cyclic hydrazide. In this presentation, we will report on the preliminary results. |
