제목 Nanoporous graphene -Polyethylene oxide LBL structured composite membrane for high flux hydrogen separation
초록 As concerns about global warming grow, global energy demand is changing from carbon-based energy sources to eco-friendly carbon-free energy sources. Among carbon-free energy sources, hydrogen (H2) is a promising energy source due to its clean and high energy density. However, current H2 production relies on the steam methane reforming (SMR) process which produces a lot of CO2. Therefore, the separation of H2/CO2 is an important issue for the massive production of H2. Herein, a composite membrane with high H2/CO2 selectivity and fast permeance was fabricated by intercalating polyethylene oxide (PEO) which exhibits high CO2 affinity with H2 permeable nanographene (NG). The composite was prepared by immersing a graphene oxide liquid crystal (GOLC) film in a PEO solution followed by pressing in high temperature to control d-spacing, activate nanopores, and convert GO into a multilayer NG. The membrane showed gas permeance of 17910 GPU, showing a high H2/CO2 selectivity exceeding the previous H2/CO2 selective membrane.
