Hydrophilic surface modification of polypropylene by acid treatment |
초록 |
Polypropylene membrane have been used for a variety of industrial applications due to its excellent chemical stability, mechanical strength as well as low cost compared to other polymeric materials. however, due to membrane fouling resulting from low surface energy and high hydrophobic properties of the PP membrane, more industrial applications has been limited. Therefore, studies have been conducted to enhance the hydrophilicity of the pp membrane to have antifouling properties. so, we conducted to change the surface of the PP membrane from hydrophobic to hydrophilic through a treatment method using sulfuric acid. Changes in the surface of the PP membrane according to temperature, immersion time, and concentration were observed. Water contact angles of the pristine and modified membrane indicate the degree of hydrophilicity. The chemical changes of membrane surface were detected by the fourier transform intrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). |
