제목 Preparation of organically modified montmorillonites and their uses in isobutylene isoprene rubber nanocomposites
초록 To improve the barrier properties of isobutylene isoprene rubber (IIR) to O2 permeation, montmorillonites (MMTs) were incorporated to prepare nanocomposites. The enhancement of the gas permeability of IIR nanocomposites could be obtained by the uniform dispersion of MMT in IIR matrix.We synthesized a various organic modifiers to increase the interaction between MMT and IIR and used to prepare organically modified momtmorillonites (OMMTs). IIR/OMMT nanocomposites could be prepared by melt-compounding followed by hot-press vulcanization. The results from O2 permeability test indicated that all IIR/OMMT nanocomposites showed the improvement of barrier properties, as compared to those of neat IIR . It could be attributed that the OMMT is well dispersed in IIR to form a tortuous path. The effects of the chemical structure of organic modifiers on the dispersion properties of OMMT in IIR matrix, and the mechanical and barrier properties of IIR/OMMT nanocomposites will be discussed in detail.
