Flat sheet membranes formed from the process of immersion precipitation were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), water permeability, and crystallinity studies. Varying the type of polymer, choice of solvent, choice of non-solvent, and casting conditions (i.e. time and temperature) has facilitated changes in the observed morphologies involving formation of macrovoid and spherulitic structures. Water flux was found to be affected to a large extent by the interconnectedness of the formed membranes due to the varying conditions imposed by the immersion precipitation process. |
