Composite, a term that has evolved within the rubber and automotive industry, is the material science of modifying a rubber or a blend of polymers and other materials to optimize properties to meet a given automotive applications or set of performance parameters. The study is mechanical properties of various rubber composites that consist of polypropylene, talc and rubber. These blends are implemented using an extrusion process without addition of compatibilisant. The main properties required are mechanical and impact properties. The blends carried out contain 10, 20, 30% rubber phase and 20% rubber included talc 10%. Rubber types using experiment consist of ethylene propylene rubber, ethylene butane rubber, ethylene octane rubber and catalloy. This study was found that the tensile strength and flexible modulus were strongly dependent on the rubber density. But impact property is dependent on density and type of rubber. |
