제목 | Mercurous bromide single crystal grown by PVT method for AOTF device |
초록 | Acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTF) and acousto-optic modulators have been used in multispectral and hyperspectral applications for detection of targets, backgrounds, chemical and biological agents. In particular, mercurous halides (Hg2X2) have been of great interest as the AOTF material for fabricating AOTF-based spectral imaging systems in the long wave length infrared. Herein, single crystals of mercurous bromide (Hg2Br2) were grown by physical vapor transport (PVT) technique in closed ampoules within vertical chamber configuration. We characterized PVT-grown crystals using various analysis tools. First, orientation and the crystalline quality of the grown crystals were determined using high resolution X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The single Hg2Br2 has two major planes exposed so that XRD analysis was performed on two planes. The XRD analysis reveals that (110), (220) and (330) planes consisting of (110) family plane are featured. For another (004) plane analysis, the corresponding peaks of (004), (114) and (105) were mainly observed. X-ray photoelectron microscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) were analyzed to determine whether the crystals were well synthesized. For XPS measurement, Hg, Br and C elements were observed. The SEM-EDX showed four elements such as Hg, Br, C, O were detected. Finally, it will be applicable to fabricate AOTF devices. |
