In-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) have been widely applied in studying chemical reaction of materials with nanoscale resolution. Liquid cell TEM (LTEM), recently developed, provides an opportunity to utilize such advantage in investigating solution phase chemical reactions. It allows high spatial and temporal resolution capabilities to studying materials’ reactions that occur in liquid phase by using thin window materials and micro-fabrication techniques. Here, we introduce the recent development of LTEM and its use in studying the growth mechanism of colloidal nanoparticles and 3-dimensional structure of solvated nanoparticles. We also present the use of LTEM in different research fields. |
