Fabrication of thin film acrylate adhesive reinforced with various kind of inorganic nanoparticles |

Flexible functional materials have been a great interest in various wearable electronics devices in which all constituting components should have some extents of flexibility. Flexible adhesive is essential for successful assembly of each flexible components and it requires both adhesive and mechanical properties with a small thickness. However, these two properties have some trade-off relationship. In this study, various kinds of inorganic nanoparticles were investigated to be used as reinforcements to realize the synergetic improvements of both properties in a thin film acrylate adhesive. Nanocomposite adhesive films reinforced with several inorganic nanoparticles with various types and sizes were fabricated by appropriate mechanical dispersion and film casting processes. The dispersion of inorganic nanoparticles was evaluated by optical microscope and electron microscopes, and the tensile and peel strengths were measured to verify the mechanical and adhesive properties of the film. |
