Fabrication of Poly(Ionic Liquids) via Atmospheric Pressure Plasma |

Ionic Liquids with or without polymerizable groups can be directly cross linked via interfacial liquid plasma polymerization with the assistance of ethylene oxide group-containing materials. EO unit of the Triton family is crucial for surfactant-assisted polymerization of ionic liquid-based polymer electrolyte film at the plasma-liquid interface. The EO unit played as an assisted-cross linking agent for the liquid plasma polymerization while ionic liquids are used as building blocks. The relationship between the number of the EO unit and thickness and ionic conductivity of the ionic liquid-based polymer electrolytes were examined. Three different types of the Triton X were used such as X-100, X-405 and X-705 with EO unit number of 9, 35 and 55, respectively. Fabricated different poly(ionic liquids). The thickness of the films increased from 1.94 µm to 8.24 µm at the same Triton X molar content of 6% in liquid mixture. |
