2D transition metal carbide MXene shows good promise as a various energy storage material by combining hydrophilic surface, metal conductivity, and rich surface chemistry. However, water-dispersed MXene flakes with -F, -OH, or -O terminal groups are hydrophilic and have poor oxidation stability, which is easy to be oxidized to TiO2 by interaction with oxygen in water. This limits the utilization of MXene based materials where the use of water is prohibited. In this study, organic dispersible Ti3C2TX MXene was prepared with organic ligands through interfacial reaction between water and organic media. Prepared surface functionalized organic dispersed MXenes have improved electrical properties and strong oxidation stability, and great performance in energy storage applications.
