A series of internal donor and acceptor type of copolymers containing 2,1,3-benzooxadiazole and the various number of thiophene rings in their repeating units were synthesized and characterized. The effect of the number of thiophene rings on optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of copolymers was investigated. All of three polymers have low band gaps and show good absorption spectra. Copolymers possessed relatively low HOMO energy levels promising good air stability and high-open circuit voltage (Voc) for photovoltaic application. This work demonstrated that increasing the number of thiophene rings in the repeating units of the donor-acceptor polymers could affect their solar cell performances. Besides, we also applied 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) to enhance morphology of active layer results in increasing efficiency of devices. |
