제목 Prevention of solvent evaporating in Ionic Polymer-Metal Composites
초록 Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite (IPMC) is comprised of ion exchange membrane and two metal electrodes. IPMC is light, small, and it has large displacement when low voltage is applied. IPMC also has good flexibility, therefore it can be easily deformed. Due to its properties, IPMC can be applied as bending actuator and bending sensor. In many cases, evaporation of inner solvent in IPMC has bad effects on ability of IPMC sensor, and IPMC actuator. When IPMC held less inner solvent, intensity of IPMC sensing signal was decreased, and actuating force of IPMC actuator was decreased. To prevent inner solvent evaporation, surface of IPMC was covered in hydrophobic polymer, parylene coating. In this research, the effects of solvent evaporation on IPMC were examined, and capability of parylene coating on IPMC sensor and actuator was also confirmed.
