A Control System of Optical Lens using Ionic Polymer Metal Composite |

Polymers that change their size and shape in response to an electrical stimulus are called electro active polymers (EAPs). The application of EAPs expands various area including actuators or sensors. The ionic polymer metal composite (IPMC) is one of EAPs, which can make a bending motion due to unbalanced ions concentration at each electrode. In this study, a control system using four IPMC actuators was proposed to control the focal length of optical lens. The focus of the lens was successfully adjustable by controlling the bending motion of four IPMC actuators along with applied voltages. The image focusing with applied input voltages was monitored by a CCD camera |
