Solvent Effects on the Preparation of PDMS Fibers via Coaxial Electrospinning |
초록 |
Polymer fibers provide a platform for a number of diverse applications including sensors and biomedical devices. Some polymers like PDMS is, however, commonly use in the form of either film or microfluidic channels. Only a few studies have been published about its fibrous form. Recent reports produced PDMS fibers by means of coaxial electrospinning. In this study, PDMS as the core material are formed through the reaction of a base with a crosslinking agent in the presence of a catalyst. Meanwhile, PVP was used as the shell and dissolved in various solvents. It was found out that solvents have significant effects on the formation of PDMS fibers. The worst case was when no fiber was formed. This can be associated to curing mechanism. The catalyst may have been inhibited affecting the overall properties of the product. PDMS fibers produced with PVP in IPA gave the best fiber morphology and can be elongated up to 200%. This work was supported by the MOTIE, Korea (Grant No. 10047976). |
