Harmful algal blooms (HABs), are aquatic phenomena often marked by the discoloration of surface waters due to the rapid growth and accumulation of microalgae, several of which produce highly potent toxins. Thus, HABs can have serious impacts on public health, aquatic organisms, important industries (e.g. mariculture), and the quality of freshwater reservoirs and marine environments. Their serious impacts and global expansion have need to develop effective controlling method of HABs. The researches that use of clays to control harmful algal blooms (HABs) are progressing now, but the only solution using loess could be used in domestic. Purpose of this research is finding method to increase efficiency of HAB removal. For this purpose, flocculation experiment by minerals such as montmorillonite, kaolinite, and loess and some algae (Microcystis sp., Heterosigma akashiwo) performed, and zeta potential, hydrophobicity of each samples measured in this research. |
