Synthesis of highly efficient, binder free Ni-Co layered double hydroxide electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction |

Design and construction of nano-structured Ni and Co based electrocatalyst with a small overpotential and fast kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) have drawn considerable attention recently because of their earth abundance, low cost and environmentally friendly nature in comparison with precious metal oxides like RuO2 and IrO2. Herein, we have synthesized binder free, highly efficient, nickel- cobalt layered double hydroxide (Ni- Co LDH) nanosheets via one step synthesis procedure. Ni-Co LDH electrocatalyst shows superior catalytic activity towards OER in alkaline electrolyte, which requires an overpotential of 280 mV to reach a current of 20 mA cm-1 and also exhibit excellent stability. |
