제목 Optical and Magnetic Properties of Nonstoichiometric II-VI Colloidal Nanocrystals
초록 Intraband transition occurring in the conduction band of a semiconducting nanocrystal, has been of great interest due to the capability of utilizing the energy smaller than the constant bulk bandgap energy. The lifetime of the intraband transition of colloidal quantum dot (CQD) had been known to be very fast, therefore the ultrafast spectroscopy had been only the method to investigate the intraband transitions for the last two decades. In this presentation, the steady-state intraband absorption and photoluminescence (PL) of II-VI CQDs will be discussed. The intraband PL for mercury chalcogenide CQDs were successfully obtained in steady-state whereas the intraband PL for cadmium chalcogenide CQDs were obtained by multi-photon excitation methods. Furthermore, the optical and magnetic properties of the binary II-VI nanocrystals were finely controlled by digitizing the number of electrons in the lowest quantum state of the conduction band, which had been a long-standing challenge. Controlling the number of electrons in the CQDs will be a promising method to finely tune the performance of the CQD based optoelectronics and spintronics.
