제목 Co-immobilization of heparin and silver nanoparticles onto poly(urethane) surfaces for reduced thrombosis and bacterial infections
초록 The quest to prevent the thrombosis and bacterial infections is important due to the fast growth in the cases of thrombosis and infection associated with medical implants. In this study, we reported an efficient therapy to impart antithrombotic and antimicrobial properties to substrates, by simultaneously immobilizing heparin and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) via a tyrosinase (Tyr)-catalyzed reaction. Tyr oxidized phenol groups of heparin grafted tyramine (HT) to catechol groups, followed by immobilizing HT and inducing the in situ AgNP formation onto poly(urethane) (PU) substrates. The successful immobilization was confirmed by analyses of water contact angles, XPS and SEM. The immobilized surfaces showed significant reduction in platelet adhesion and remarkable antibacterial properties. The results from this work suggest a novel method to fabricate a new generation of medical devices with antithrombotic and antibacterial activities.
