제목 Photofunction of Transition Metal Complexes
초록 Complexes of late transition metals provide a range of photofunction, because they are capable of utilizing dπ-orbitals. Notable utility involves electrophosphorescence and photoredox catalysis for small molecule activation. Despite the broad photofunctionalities, however, the complexes have remained largely unexplored in fine chemical industry. My group focuses on the discovery, understanding, and exploitation of novel molecular photofunction of the complexes of Ir(III) or Pt(II). Our studies aim at synthetically controlling excited-state processes of the complexes, and utilize the knowledge to expand the scope of their photofunction. Particularly, my group demonstrated that control over excited-state electron transfer is pivotal to improvements in the stability of organic electroluminescence devices and in the performance of photoredox catalytic trifluoromethylation of unactivated arenes.
