제목 Synthesis of epoxidized sunflower seed oil and its application in epoxy blends
초록 In this study, epoxidized sunflower seed oil (ESSO) was prepared by the reaction of sunflower seed oil with glacial acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide using Amberite IR-120 as a catalyst. Optimal reaction conditions were determined through investigating the effects of catalyst content, reaction temperature and time, and oxidant on yield of ESSO. The yield was higher than 90% under the optimal reaction conditions. Epoxy resin/ESSO composites were prepared by melt blending of epoxy resins and ESSO using N-benzylpyrazinium hexafluoroantimonate as a cationic latent catalyst. Effect of ESSO content on the impact strength of the blends was studied. The impact strength of the blend with 30 wt% ESSO was 60% higher than the neat epoxy resin.
