A novel organic photovoltaic material containing tetrathiafulvalene and fullerene was synthesized via coupling reactions. The synthesized molecule was abbreviated as 14T6F6T14, where 14 and 6 are the number of carbons in alkyl chains, and T and F represent tetrathiafulvalene and fullerene, respectively. The chemical structures of 14T6F6T14 was confirmed by FT IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and its thermal behaviors was characterized utilizing DSC. Electron-rich tetrathiafulvalene (T) can work as an electron donor (D) and fullerene (F, C60) can act as an electron acceptor (A) so that the chemical architecture of 14T6F6T14 is a DAD triad system. Due to the nano-phase separation among T, F, and alkyl chain moieties, 14T6F6T14 can construct a multi-layer system, which was considered as one of the ideal heterojucntion photovoltaic cells. |
