제목 Ion-complexed lidocaine as a strategy for prolonged anesthesia
초록 It is well-known that most patients received surgical treatment experience moderate to serve pain, and management of the postoperative pain is a prominent issue for surgeons and patients. After the first use of cocaine in 1884 for clinical operation, a variety of local anesthetics have been utilized in clinical practices to manage the postoperative pain. However, their relatively short duration of anesthesia is remained as a limitation. In recent, the use of adjuvant and delivery matrices has been reported for prolonged duration of anesthetic effect. However, inflammation and toxicity by the matrix itself or its metabolite, uncontrolled drug release behavior are still considered as huddles. In this study, a lidocaine/multivalent ion-complex (ic LD) was prepared by simple mixing of solution. The fabrication yield, LD release profile, and cytotoxicity of the icLD were investigated. Their duration of anesthesia and tissue toxicity were also estimated using an animal model.
