Photosensitizer Loaded Cationic Dual Stimuli Responsive Lipopolymer Formulation for the Controlled Delivery of Ce6 in Tumor Targeted Photodynamic Therapy |

In our study site specific cationic dual responsive photosensitizer loaded liposomal nanocarriers prepared for the controlled intracellular release of chlorine e6 (Ce6) in a targeted tumors related to their microenvironments. The system was developed by the formulation of phosphatidylcholine (PC), posphatidylethanolamine-p(L-Histidine)40 (PE-p(His)40), folic acid conjugated PE-p(N-isopropyl acrylamide)40 (PE-p(NIPAM)40). The designing features providing the promising properties such as cationic charges, membrane fusogensity and targetability of liposomal nanocarriers for the controlled delivery of Ce6 in tumors. The self-assembled nanostructure shows the diameter ranging from 90 to 140 nm. Interestingly, Ce6 release was enhanced at pH 6.6 owing to the protonation/deprotonation of imidazole in PE-p(His)40. In addition to that it shows significant photodynamic therapeutic efficiency on KB cancer cells than free Ce6. |
