Since Chandrasekhar et al. have first discovered discotic liquid crystal (DLC) in 1977. DLC materials have been attracting attention because of their particular electron or hole transport properties. The objective of our study is to design the interdisk hydrogen-bonded material that show the DLC behavior and to cross-link the columns to maintain the DLC structure at any temperature. Our strategy to obtain the DLC material is to use hydrogen bonding between disks. And for cross-linking the columns, we use the acrylate unit at the terminal of disk. At this study, disk unit is IBAC6(Interdisk Bonding Acrylate Carbon6). IBAC6 contains three amide unit for the interdisk H-bonding. The mesomorphic properties of IBAC6 were studied by DSC, POM and X-ray diffraction. |
