Organic solar cells (OSCs) have been developed rapidly and currently achieved power conversion efficiency (PCE) near 19%. With the advent of high-performance polymer donor and the optimization of device structure and fabrication methods, the performance of OSCs has been improved. Despite the great enhancement of PCE, it’s still not high enough to commercialization of OSCs. To solve this problem, we have developed a simple process of introducing luminescent additives that emitted stronger light when absorbing light. This process can improve PCE as well as average visible transmittance (AVT) through the effect of amplifying the incident light of OSCs. It has the advantage of improving efficiency in environments where light intensity is limited. Furthermore, the light amplification by additives also increases AVT, so it can be also used in semi-transparent organic solar cells. |
