Conjugated Organic Molecules as aNLO Material |
초록 |
Conjugated organic molecules have been extensively studied due to their potential use in the field of non-linear optics(NLO). NLO chromophores are often referred to as conjugated “push-pull” systems. One of the challenges in designing organic NLO molecules is how to minimise aggregation between the chromophores. The molecular hyperpolarizability, β does not increase or decrease due to aggregation, but the bulk, or macromolecular hyperpolarizability χ(2) will either be diminished and/or unstable over time in cases where there is significant aggregation occurring. This presentation will discuss methods we have used to minimise aggregation in NLO materials with a view to designing ideal candidate compounds for use in NLO devices. |
