제목 Brush Copolymers Based on MPEG and Poly (ε- caprolactone): Synthesis and Characterization
초록 Brush copolymers composed of methoxy poly (ethylene glycol) and poly (e- caprolactone) was synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone in presence of hydroxyl function of previously synthesized MPEG-citrate , using stannous octoate catalyst.1, 2 Citric acid acts as spacer between brush like MPEG and handle like PCL. The polymers were well characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, GPC, DSC and TGA. The hydrodynamic size of the particle is 180 nm along with core of 8 to 10 nm and secondary micelle of 60 to 90 nm as investigated by DLS and AFM. The formation of secondary micelles might be due to inter molecular hydrogen bonding as well as hydrophilic interactions among the primary micelles molecule. Critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the particle was determined as 3.4× 10-4 g/L by fluorescence spectrophotometry. Such assembled polymeric micelles could hold a promise for the immobilization of hydrophobic drug and subsequently promotes sustained release.1
