Quasi-one-dimensional materials have fascinated scientists for a long time because of their unusual properties. These materials exhibit very unusual optical, magnetic, and conducting properties. Among these materials, Magnus’ green salt analogues such as [Pt(NH2R)4][PtCl4] had been synthesized due to the uniqueness of self-assembled supramolecular structures with a metallic main-chain that is rare in polymer materials. However, these compounds and their isostructural derivatives are largely insoluble in water and common organic solvents, which restricts the processing of these materials. Here we report the synthesis of novel water-soluble platinum complexes having these features. The complex are useful for biomedical applications and due to their electrical conductivity also for semiconducting materials. |
