제목 Electrochemical activity of Mn​3​O​4​-modified graphite felt for vanadium redox flow battery
초록 Vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) is a type of rechargeable flow battery. Electrode material is one of the key components of VRFB due to the redox reaction of V ions affecting the energy efficiency of VRFB. However, the widely used carbon-based materials for VRFB electrode have poor catalytic activity of V ion. In order to improve the electrode performance, nano-sized Mn3O4/thermal-treated graphite felt(TGF) composites are prepared as the electrode for VRFB. The Mn3O4/TGF prepared by two-step process, in which tetrabutylammonium(TBA) permanganate is reduced to amorphous MnO2 particles contained TBA ion on the TGF surface and subsequently converted to the Mn3O4/TGF by thermal treatment. The results show that the peak separation of the V ions redox reaction on the as-prepared electrode is significantly reduced and also peak current is increased. The VRFB with Mn3O4/TGF electrodes exhibits an higher energy and voltage efficiency than that of the VRFB assembled with TGF at 80mA/cm2.
