Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) are used to impart unique properties to thermoplastics, thermoset, elastomers and coatings. In this work, epoxy nanocomposites incorporated with POSS was fabricated and characterized during curing. The epoxy/POSS blends isothermally cured at varying cure temperature and times were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) to determine the glass transition temperature(Tg) and conversion(α). Tg vs. ln(cure time) data at arbitrary reference temperature was superposed by time-temperature shifts to form a master curve for the kinetically controlled reaction. The shift factors are used to calculated an Arrhenius activation energy. |
