Investigation of MgO based nano-material for CO2 capture and storage |

CO2 capture and storage has been investigated extensively because of ever increasing demand to reduce CO2 emission to lower the global warming effect. The emission from industrial process as a major contributor should be reduced significantly using affordable technology. MgO has been considered as a major constituent in sorbent material due to its low cost and large scale deposit. In this work, MgO has been modified using metal additives consisting of Group IA and IIB elements to enhance CO2 capture at low to medium temperature. The modified MgO showed a peculiar morphology, nanosized cube which can also be used as catalyst support and sorbent for other industrial application. The CO2 sorption was enhanced significantly when such nanocube MgO was used as a sorbent at 273 K. |
