Reducing methane emissions from anthropogenic activities is important for delaying climate change. Here, we report spontaneous phase separable system using membrane micro-CSTR to the phase transfer biocatalytic process of methane-to-methanol conversion. This system has several advantages for operating the conversion reaction; (a) reducing biocatalyst loss during operating the reactor continuously, (b) introducing a strong mixing effect to increase mass transfer efficiency of methane to biocatalyst, (c) removing additional product separation processes by employing the spontaneous phase separation system, and (d) providing a poweful flatform for more complex, high-value-added reactions based on phase-transfer biocatalysis. |
