Natural gas hydrates (NGHs) are formed at low temperature and high pressure conditions and are regarded as future clean energy source. Gas hydrates are classified into three structures; sI, sII, and sH. Some NGH samples were revealed to contain LMGSs and to form sH. Previous research reported that LMGSs can act as thermodynamic inhibitors for natural gas hydrates even though LMGSs belong to hydrocarbons. In addition, the accurate phase behavior and structural coexistence of NGHs with LMGSs are not well understood. In this study, neohexane and methylcyclopentane were selected as LMGSs and CH4 + C3H8 and CH4 + C2H6 were selected. The four-phase (H-Lw-LLMGS-V) equilibria were measured to verify actual effect of LMGSs. The structure and guest distributions of complex gas hydrate systems were analyzed from 13C NMR and PXRD. It was found that the higher solubility of C3H8 in LMGSs compared to CH4 caused pseudo-thermodynamic hydrate inhibition. |
