Buckling-based mechanical characterization of silicone elastomers reinforced with multi-walled carbon nanotubes |
초록 |
Silicone elastomers reinforced with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) has been fabricated by simple mixing of constituent elements manually, from 0.2 to 1.4 wt.% of MWNT concentration. The reinforcing filler effect of the MWNT, specifically the Young’s modulus, has been characterized by buckling method using thin polystyrene (PS) layer as a sensor film. The results have been compared with micro-tensile method and showed good agreement in the general trend. However, the modulideduced from the buckling method have led to larger value than those from micro-tensile test. The same trend has been confirmed from control experiments on pure elastomers having different contents of curing agent. Based on these experimental observations, origin of discrepancy in Young’s modulus value between buckling and micro-tensile method will be discussed. |
