In present investigation, vertically aligned 1D rutile TiO2 nanorods (TNR) were deposited directly on FTO coated glass substrate by controlled hydrothermal route. The non-aqueous successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) technique was adopted for the synthesis of CdS quantum dots (QDs) sensitization. The synthesized CdS-TNR samples were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), High resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRTEM), micro-Raman Spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) etc. characterization techniques. These CdS-TNR samples were further used for their quantum dot sensitization (QDSSC) performance under visible light. The CdS-TNR photoelectrodes deposited at 40 SILAR cycles exhibits a photovoltaic performance shows VOC=0.423V and JSC=4.71 mA/cm2 with 0.65 % conversion efficiency. |
