Preparation and characterization of microporous polycyanurates |

There is growing interest in developing new materials with high and selective uptakes of CO2. A microporous organic polymer with a high surface area and basic N groups is known to efficiently adsorb CO2 molecules. Polycyanurates (PCNs) which are synthesized from cyanate monomers, have good thermal and chemical stability. PCNs also have nitrogen rich structures and are potentially good adsorbents for CO2 capture. In this study, microporous polycyanurates were prepared from a triphenoxytriazine monomer. The polymers were cured at various temperatures and their structural changes were investigated. The BET surface areas and CO2 uptakes of the polymers were found to increase as the curing temperature increased. |
