Catalytic combustion systems have often applied to the decomposition of CO or hydrocarbons exhausted from various industrial processes or automobile. In this system, catalyst material composed of platinum-group metal (PGM) species, such as Pd or Pt, is used, because the catalyst material that can work at lower temperatures is highly desired. Recently, the development of catalyst based on abundant base metals, such as Co, Fe, or Mn, has been demanded to reduce the use of such precious metals. This study demonstrates that the catalytic performance of MnOx on hexagonal YbFeO3 synthesized by a solvothermal method is effective for CO and C3H6 combustion despite the absence of PGM species. The loading of a small amount of PGM species dramatically promotes the catalytic performance and reduction behavior of the MnOx species located on the hexagonal structure of YbFeO3, which has high structural flexibility. |
