Effect of MnCO3 on the Piezoelectric Properties of Lead-Free (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 Piezoelectric Ceramics |

As an environment-friendly alternative for current PZT system, bismuth sodium barium titanates (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 (BNBT)-based ceramics are expected to be one of the candidates of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics because of the morphotropic phase boundary between BNT and tetragonal symmetries such as BaTiO3. The piezoelectric properties of (1-x)(Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94TiO3-xBaTiO3 (x=0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10) ceramics were reported and their piezoelectric properties reach extreme values near the MPB (about x=0.06). The XRD results revealed that the sintered BNBT:MnCO3 ceramics exhibited a pure perovskite structure without any secondary phase with MnCO3 concentration ranging from 0.01~0.04 wt%. The effects on subsequent piezoelectric and dielectric properties were systematically investigated. With increasing MnCO3 contents, the doping ceramics with MnCO3 enhanced piezoelectric properties up to d33=147pC/N, kp=0.29, ℇ33T/ℇ0=981 and lower dielectric loss and remarkably increased sintered density. Piezoelectric coefficient was shown to have maximum values at MnCO3 content of 0.01 wt%. MnCO3 were believed in BNBT system to enhance dielectric and piezoelectric properties in this study |
