Microneedles (MNs) is a therapeutic tool for delivery of drugs to biological tissue. They permit drug delivery at clinically relevant rates across the different layers of skin tissue with minimal damage and pain or irritation. Recently, various types of MNs have been applied for targeting cancer. Among them dissolving MNs have received attention owing to their ability to dissolve quickly after applying to the skin. Imidazoquinoline, one of the therapeutic agents, is used in cancer therapy in a way to modulate immune response. In this study, dissolving MNs were designed by using amphiphilic triblock copolymer generating in situ nano micelles (NMCs). Furthermore, resiquimod (R848) and ovalbumin (OVA) were loaded into the NMC-based MNs to inhibit tumor growth. Therefore, dissolving MNs can be considered as an efficient strategy to deliver therapeutic agents and to improve cancer treatment. |
