제목 Synthesis of shape-specific (trilateral and quadrilateral) carbon quantum dots with unique and tunable multi-color emissions for bioimaging application
초록 Synthesis of shape-specific carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with well-ordered edge structure and multi-color emission from a single precursor by controlling the reaction time is rare. Selecting phloroglucinol (having suitable three-fold symmetry, C3h; symmetry elements: E, C3, C32, σh, S3, S3-1) as a precursor of CQDs is useful for monitoring the shape and structure of CQDs during dehydration mediated controlled growth that assists in the formation and photoluminescence (PL) emission mechanism. We report the rapid synthesis of novel shape-specific (trilateral and quadrilateral) CQDs with multi-color emission [blue (B-CQDs), green (G-CQDs), and yellow (Y-CQDs)]. Mechanism involves six-membered ring cyclization of phloroglucinol by elimination of neighbouring active -OH and -H groups in sulfuric acid medium. Evolution of tunable PL emission is based on the size of conjugated domain and edge electronic states (O and S). These CQDs are used for multi-color cell (HeLa) and zebra fish imaging.
