Water electrolysis is a remarkable hydrogen production method in that it has eco-friendly process, and can only generate pure hydrogen and oxygen. For the decades, Pt and Pt-based catalysts have been known to show the best performance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, there are problems of scarcity and unsatisfactory for commercialization. Therefore, an alternative to resolve this problem is to fabricate transition metal based alloys and compounds catalysts with highly roughened nanostructure. In this work, highly active MoO2@CoMo heterostructured catalysts were fabricated by bubble-assisted electrodeposition and following selective leaching process. Controlled leaching potential facilitate selective dissolution of Co and oxidation of Mo at the surface. As a result, the highly roughened MoO2 was formed at the surface of CoMo assisted by its foam structure, which was confirmed by microscopic and spectroscopic analysis. |
