The unique feature of vessel structure is concentric multi-layered structure. The three layers of vessel are composed with fibroblast, smooth muscle cell and endothelial cell, and interactions of the layers contribute to main functions of vessels. Recapitulation of vessels has become important issue as increase of the need for artificial vessels, and various tools including cell sheet engineering have been developed. However, successful mimicry of natural vessel structure with three different layers still has not been achieved. In this study, we aimed to fabricate three-dimensional tubular structure composed of three types of vessel forming cells through tissue transfer printing. The system using a thermosensitive hydrogel that changes its size in response to alteration of temperature could achieve precise control of cell monolayer transfer on target substrates. We applied tissue transfer printing to nanofibrous substrates and fabricated multicellular tubular structure. |
