Graphene quantum dots(GQDs) are nanometer-size graphene dots. In addition, GQDs have unique optical and electronic properties due to quantum confinement and edge effect. In this study, we investigated optical properties of GQDs through photoluminescence(PL). As heat treatment temperature of PAN-based carbon fibers(CFs) increased, nitrogen content reduced. Thus, we can control N content by the carbonization temperature. Nitrogen-doped GQDs(N-GQDs) were synthesized by acid treatment of PAN-based CFs. N-GQDs were manufactured by one step process because PAN-based CFs contain nitrogen such pyrrolic, pyridinic and quaternary N. Nitrogen doping tuned optical properties of GQDs and PL behavior of N-GQDs was observed along nitrogen content of N-GQDs. |
