The rheological properties of poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) and cellulose acetate (CA) blend solutions in N,N-dimethyl formamide (DMF) were investigated in terms of temperature and blend composition. Over the temperature range of 20 and 60oC, the rheological properties of the blend solutions revealed a very unusual behavior. As temperature increased, the dynamic viscosity of PAN/CA in DMF solutions was increased and the loss tangent was decreased. The effects of temperature on the rheological properties was more noticeable at higher PAN content in the blends. On the other hands, the effects of blend ratio were decreased with increasing temperature. Intrinsic viscosity of blend solutions was measured to assess these unusual responses of concentrated solutions, which was diminished with increasing temperature. |
