Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) copolymers for sequential actuation in ionic liquids |
초록 |
Sequential self-transformations of 2D sheets into 3D forms are of great interest in the area of origami-inspired materials and machines to make more complex configurations that cannot be accessed by simultaneous foldings. We demonstrate sequential and reversible bending of a microactuator by tuning the upper critical solution temperature (UCST) of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) copolymers in the ionic liquid (IL), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide. The copolymers have different hydrogen-bonding capabilities by incorporating acrylic acid and methyl acrylate, and show the higher and lower UCSTs than PNIPAM in the IL, respectively. Relying on the tunable transition temperature through copolymerization, we prepared a photo-patterened microactorator, which offers additional directions for the area of origami and soft robots. |
